Hi, I’m Payton. Thanks for stopping by.
I'm a multimedia producer currently based out of Bloomington, IN. I’ve worked for WFIU Public Radio and WTIU Public Television since 2018, where I’ve created award-winning digital content and coordinated digital strategy. I currently produce, write, edit and host Flyover Culture, a YouTube series all about pop culture in the Midwest. I also supervise the production of A Moment of Science, a modular podcast and broadcast program that’s been enjoyed by millions for over three decades.
Previously, I’ve produced and edited videos for Earth Eats and [Indi]android, which was nominated for two regional Emmy awards.
I have several years’ experience producing video content from inception to post-production. I try to bring a sense of playfulness and irreverence to my work while keeping it informative, trustworthy and entertaining.
As a member of the PBS system, I’ve been fortunate to take part in multiple committees and development program. I currently serve on their Digital Media Advisory Council and help guide PBS’ efforts to assist their member stations. In the past, I’ve taken part in PBS Accelerate as both a participant and a mentor.
Prior to my time in public media, I was an assignment editor and digital editor for WSMV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Nashville, TN. I juggled breaking news, web stories, file transfers and any other fires (literal or otherwise) that needed putting out.
When I’m not working, I’m probably playing video games or watching Real Housewives with my husband, Travis. You can find me at the comic shop every Wednesday.
