Hi, I’m Payton. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm a multimedia producer currently based out of Bloomington, IN. I work for WFIU Public Radio and WTIU Public Television as a multimedia producer, where I create original digital content and help organize the station’s digital strategy. Day to day, that means working on web series like Flyover Culture, which I produce, write, edit and host. In the past, I’ve also worked on Earth Eats, A Moment of Science and the Emmy-nominated [Indi]android, which I also produced and hosted.

I have several years’ experience creating video content from pitch to published, and I’ve had a hand in every step of that process. I bring a sense of playfulness and irreverence to my work while ensuring it stays informative, trustworthy and entertaining. I have a soft spot for pop culture like comic books, video games, movies and entirely too much else.

As a member of the PBS system, I’ve been fortunate to take part in multiple development programs including Digital Immersion, the Immersive Learning Station Advisory Group and the PBS Annual Meeting.

Before WFIU and WTIU, I was an assignment editor and digital editor for WSMV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Nashville, TN, where I juggled breaking news, web stories, file transfers and any other fires (literal or otherwise) that needed putting out. I’ve also written about video games for the sadly-defunct Arcade Sushi, for whom I covered the PAX East convention in 2017.

When I’m not working, I’m probably playing video games or watching Real Housewives with my husband Travis. You can find me at the comic shop every Wednesday.
